Allen Lee "Al" Wolf, age 71, of Cloverton, Minn., passed away Nov. 30, 2010, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Tim Faust, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church, RR2, in Markville, Minn. Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings, and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Hazel Siders, age 93, died Nov. 24, 2010, in Hastings, Minn., where she has resided for the past 10 years. Hazel is remembered and mourned by her daughter, Audrey (Gene Andersen) Sun City West, Ariz.; grandchildren, Patricia Grossbach, Hastings, and Greg Andersen, California; great-grandchildren, Nicolis Grossbach and Garrett Andersen. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Hollmann, Minneapolis, Minn. Hazel's funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Hartford United Methodist Church in Hartford, S.D. Visitation will start at noon at the church.
Mary Helen Becker, nee Simerson, age 50, born March 27, 1960, died Nov. 20, 2010. Preceded in death by father, Richard Simerson. Survived by husband of 27 years, Ronald Becker; children, Emily, Charlie, Abigail and Madeline; parents, Marilyn and John Young; siblings, Margaret Schultz (Tom), Michael Simerson, Patsy Simerson-Walfred (Tom), Florence Manley, Jack Simerson and Ann Simerson; daughter-in-law of LaVerne and Dorothy Becker of Hastings. Mary's 21 nieces and nephews all meant the world to her.
Verneil Phyllis Thomas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Nov. 24 at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Active for many years in volunteer work with the VFW, the Am. Legion, and Regina Hospital Auxiliaries, as well as other volunteer work in Hastings, she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Born Nov. 23, 1927, to Seth and Nina (Fredrickson) Bremseth in Red Wing, she married Edward "Jim" Thomas on Aug. 2, 1947.
Sue Bunker, 82, passed away on Nov. 20, 2010, at her home in Hastings, Minn. She was born Oct. 23, 1928, in Burlington, Iowa, to Ernest and Millicent Hicklin Winter of Wapello, Iowa, where she grew up and graduated from Wapello High School with the class of 1946. She went on to graduate from the University of Iowa in 1951 where she met her husband Harry S. "Bud" Bunker Jr. They were married on Feb. 3, 1951, and had four children. After several years in Iowa and Colorado, in 1964 they moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where Sue was a long-time real estate broker and appraiser.
Donald D. Swanson, 78, of Hastings, and formerly of Red Wing, passed away Nov. 18, at the Minneapolis Veteran Administration Medical Center. Don was born on Nov. 14, 1932, to Clarence and Margaret (Goldsmith) Swanson in Red Wing. He proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Whiteside as an electrician mate. Don was a lifetime member of the VFW, the American Legion and the DAV. On Jan. 30, 1954, Don married Betty Anderson in Red Wing and later was blessed with five children: Donald, Barbara, Brenda, Derald, and Bonita.
David Brien Reinardy, age 40, of Hastings, died unexpectedly Nov. 21, 2010, at his home. David was born March 14, 1970, in Red Wing, to Eugene and Kerry (O'Brien) Reinardy. He was a 1988 graduate of Hastings High School and retired as a paramedic. He was a former firefighter and EMT with Hastings, Northfield, and Gold Cross Ambulance in Rochester.
Eugene A. "Gene" Reinardy, age 66, of Hastings died Nov. 21, 2010, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Gene was born Sept. 2, 1944, in New Trier, to Mathias and Magdalene (Beissel) Reinardy. He married Joanne Bauer Sept. 10, 1966, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Gene was employed by American Hoist until it closed, and then retired from Robinson Transfer. He was an avid runner and completed many marathons.
George Milton Wolf, age 76, died Nov. 14, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marion (Young) Wolf. He was an award-winning artist and writer. A private gathering will be held with family and friends.
A memorial service for Maxine M. Nelson, 92, of Rochester, Minn., will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with the Rev. Linda K. Lund officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Maxine Minerva Rogers was born on May 6, 1918, in Rochester, to Robert and Helen (Schmidt) Rogers. She died on Nov. 18, 2010, at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minn. Maxine graduated from Rochester High School in 1935. On May 19, 1940, she married Roy B.
