Eleanor Ellsworth, mother of former Hastings resident Sondra Ellsworth Glasenapp, died Monday, June 15, at the Golden Living Center in Rochester. Eleanor chose to give her body to Mayo Clinic Research and Training. Eleanor Ellsworth is survived by daughters Sondra (Dwaine) Glasenapp of St. Paul and Marilyn (Ken) Miller of St. Regis, Mont.; six grandchildren, Todd (Dana) Glasenapp of Page, Ariz,, Steven (Nancy) Glasenapp of Mahtomedi, Christopher (Elaine) Glasenapp of McLean, Va., Lisa Stevenson of Conshohocken, Pa., Heidi (Lance) Hotchkiss of St.
Norbert H. Krech, age 80, of Hastings, died June 22, 2009, at the Inver Grove Good Samaritan Center. Norbert was born in Prescott, Wis., Dec. 14, 1928, to Henry and Hulda (Bester) Krech. He attended Prescott schools, later serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. Norbert married Mary "Tootie" Lorentz Oct. 14, 1950. He was employed by 3M Chemolite as a warehouse operator prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary, Oct.
Melvin A. Schanus, age 74, of Hastings, died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minn. Melvin was born August 14, 1934, in Hampton, Minn., to Peter and Lucille (Blessner) Schanus. He married Marilyn Eshelmann July 19, 1958, in New Prague and had worked in the construction industry prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; son, Martin; and several brothers and sisters.
Brainerd "Jeff" Livingston, age 95, of Hastings, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings of complications from a stroke. Brainerd was born Jan. 14, 1914, in Baxter Township, Minn., to Roy and Lura (Shipman) Livingston. He married Margaret Gussman Feb. 21, 1942 in St. Paul, was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Naval Air Force. His 60-year career in the car business spanned the horse-and-buggy age to the digital age.
Judith "Sparky" Ackerman, age 67, of Hastings, passed away June 9, 2009. She was born March 17, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Clifford and Catherine Ostrem. Judith married Wesley Ackerman on Sept.
Norbert Charles Stoffel, age 88, of Cannon Falls, died Sunday morning, June 14, 2009, at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. Norbert was born on March 9, 1921, in Vermillion, Minn., the son of Marcus and Mary (Marschall) Stoffel. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII in Korea. He married Lucille S. Kruse November 21, 1942, in Miesville. They lived most of their married life in Empire, and owned and operated the Empire Supper Club from 1948 to 1985, when they retired. They were members of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Farmington. He was also a life member of the VFW.

Gotthard B. Rohling, age 84, of Hastings, died June 15, 2009, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Gotthard was born in Freeport, Minn., April 22, 1925, to Henry and Amelia (Stangler) Rohling. He married Veronica Piekarski April 21, 1956, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in South St. Paul.
On Sunday, June 14, 2009, Robert "Bob" Joseph Hackel, age 77, died suddenly in Hastings, Minn. Bob enjoyed his summers in Hastings with family, and spent his winters in Dunedin, Fla., following his retirement. His enthusiasm for life was evident in the many friendships he made along his life's path. For those who knew Bob, he was one of a kind. He was known for his corny jokes, his love of telling a good story, and for giving unsolicited golfing tips to perfect strangers. Clarence J. Becker, age 84, of Hastings, died June 11, 2009, at Regina Medical Center. Clarence was born in Vermillion, Minn., Aug. 21, 1924, to Nicholas and Justine (Brockman) Becker. He worked in maintenance at Armour Co. in So. St.
