Lloyd B. Swanson, age 87, of Hastings, died Dec. 14, 2010, at Regina Nursing Home. Lloyd was born Aug. 7, 1923, in Welch, to Albert and Hannah (Lundberg) Swanson. He married Lorraine B. Samuelson on June 19, 1948, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Welch.
Stanley "Pudge" Kochendorfer, age 80, of Hastings, died on Dec. 14, 2010, at Regina Medical Center. Stanley was born July 1, 1930, in Durand, Wis., to Stanley and Nellie (Hill) Kochendorfer. He was united in marriage to Dolores Odden on June 4, 1949, in California. Stanley was a 1948 graduate of Hastings High School. He was an employee of 3M in Cottage Grove for over 39 years before his retirement in 1988. Stanley was an avid golfer and a sports enthusiast.
Carolyn S. Gunderson, age 68, of Hastings, died Dec. 16, 2010, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Carolyn was born Aug. 20, 1942, in Portland, Ore., to Eldon and Ruth (Lore) Evans. She married Jack Gunderson on Aug. 22, 1959, and had been employed as a school bus driver for Prescott Public Schools for 29 years. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Jack; children, Candy (Rick) Hanken of Prescott, Jackie Olson of Eagan, Dwayne of Hastings, and Joy (Bryon) Suski of Hastings; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Donald R. Berg Sr., age 73, of Hastings, died Dec. 13, 2010, at home. Don was born Aug. 19, 1937, in Cannon Falls, to Lars and Marie (Njos) Berg. He was united in marriage to Patricia Krech on Aug. 26, 1961, at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls.
Ruthmary B. Gust, age 84, of Hastings, died on Dec. 13, 2010, at Fairview Southdale Medical Center in Edina. Ruthmary was born March 20, 1926, in Minneapolis, to Leon and Sophia (Bonk) Newman. She was united in marriage to Joseph J. Gust on Aug.
Rev. Herman J. White, Oct. 7, 1925 - Dec. 8, 2010, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Hastings. Survived by wife of 54 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Furney) White; children Roger (Cindy), Linda Wynn, Joseph (Lavenna), Joel A. (Debra), James, John, Julie; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by son Stephen; daughters Martha, Jean, and Joan; grandchild Elizabeth Broker. Funeral was held at Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church and internment is at Southlawn Cemetery, both in Tucson.
Philip Andrew Kranz, 52, Rooster Run Road, Hopkinsville, Ky., and formerly of New Orleans, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness. He is survived by many loving family members and friends, including many uncles, aunts, and other family in Hastings. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hopkinsville, conducted by Rev. Fr. John M. Thomas, with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Kranz, Pete Kranz, Tom Kranz, Jerry Kranz, Mike Kranz and Dave Kranz.
Harry Raymond Exner, 19, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Denver, Colo. He was born on May 11, 1991, in Red Wing to Harry and Renae (Franklin) Exner. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 2009. He moved to Aurora, Colo., and attended Anthem College to pursue a degree in X-ray technology. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed snowboarding, playing hockey, riding his dirt bike and motocross, competing in races the past three years. He lived life to the fullest.
Dan D. Duray, 78, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at his residence. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City, Iowa, with Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City, with a scriptural wake service at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dan D.
