On Tuesday, June 7, 2011, Robert Owen Slayton IV, "Bobby", left us to go live with the Lord Jesus Christ. There was a visitation from 4-6 p.m. Monday, June 13, with service beginning at 6 p.m., at Community Hope Lutheran Church, 14401 Biscayne Ave. W., Rosemount, MN 55068. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Springfield. A request of memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers. The Wise Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Clara M. Rother, age 99, of Hastings, died June 10, 2011, at the Regina Assisted Living facility. Clara was born April 16, 1912, in Marshan Township, to Michael and Mary (Reuter) Kasel. She married Robert V. Rother at St.
Helene M. Horvath, age 84, of Hastings, passed away June 7, 2011, at the Regina Nursing Home in Hastings. Helene was born March 13, 1927, to Herman and Rose Erlichmann in Holding Township, Minn. She married Andrew H. Horvath on May 11, 1946, in Holdingford, Minn. Helene was a homemaker but spent much time as a volunteer at church and school. Helene was a wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver who was the strength of her family. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and she loved dancing with dad.

Mavis Mary Meiers, born 1924. Parents, John and Mary Becker-Meiers, both born in Minnesota, moved to settle on a homestead at Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan, Canada, after their marriage in February 1921. John badly broke his arm in 1927. They then decided to move back to Hastings, Minn., with their two small children. Mary's three bachelor brothers and their widowed mother helped the couple get started on a farm nearby. It was the Depression years, and banks rented out or sold many repossessed farms. The family grew to five children. They attended three one-room country school houses.
Bernice A. (Gerster) Molitor, age 93, of Miesville, died June 5, 2011, in Hastings. She was born April 19, 1918, in Hampton, to Edward and Dorothy (Peine) Gerster. Bernice attended rural Hampton schools and married Raymond M. Molitor on Sept. 17, 1940, in Hampton. Bernice was actively involved in many church activities. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, dancing, and gardening.
Bliss Andrews, age 92, of Rosemount, passed away June 3, 2011, at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 7, at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. Interment will follow in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans. Wise Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Elly M. McNamara, age 75, of Hastings, died June 4, 2011, at her residence. Elly was born March 4, 1936, in Hastings, to Martin and Florence (Gerlach) Conzemius. She was a graduate of Hastings High School class of 1954 and was united in marriage to Clayton McNamara on Aug. 2, 1958, in Hastings. She was a homemaker and volunteered at Hastings Family Service. Elly was a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and caregiver who was the strength of her family. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and sewing.
Lillian C. Squire, age 75, of Hastings, died June 3, 2011, at United Hospital in St. Paul after a 4-year battle with breast cancer. Lillian was born Oct. 2, 1935, to Henry and Emma (Kessler) Murschel in Zap, N.D. She married William B. Squire Nov. 5, 1954, in Moorhead, Minn., and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of Our Saviour's Ev.
Terence William "Terry" Salo, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Hastings, Minn., on June 1, 2011, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Terry was born Feb. 29, 1944, in Ely, Minn., to William and Tersi Salo. He graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in education. He was a teacher for 32 years: 1 year in Biwabik and 31 years in Farmington. Terry mainly taught art and was an accomplished artist himself. He married Janice Brunner Von Bargen on Jan. 18, 1983, in Hastings. He was an exceptional husband, father, and friend.
