Ione M. Kjos, age 80, of Hastings, died Oct. 13 at her home. The memorial service, officiated by Rev. Doug Duin, will be held Oct. 18 at Our Saviour's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hastings, followed by interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. Arrangements were handled by the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, Hastings, 651-437-9419, www.caturia-smidtfh.com .
Doris B. Warner, age 84, of Hastings, died Oct. 13 at her home. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hastings. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh St., Hastings, and 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will follow the Mass in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor's choice in Doris's name.
Paul S. Snelling, age 64, of Hastings, passed away at home Oct. 12. He was born to W. Kenneth and Betty Snelling in Elwood, Ind., on Aug. 31, 1947. He married Priscilla Schrock on June 13, 1971, in Hancock, Mich.
Otto Trede, age 96, of Hastings, passed away at Regina Assisted Living on Oct. 9, 2011. Otto was born April 2, 1915, to Hans and Minna Trede in Hamburg, Germany. He married Kaete Batel in Hamburg on Oct. 7, 1939. With his wife and daughter, Janet, he moved to the United States in 1953. After arriving, they lived in Marengo, Forest Park, and Lombard, Ill. Upon retirement from his profession as a tool and die maker in 1977, Otto and Kaete moved to Leaf Lake near Henning, Minn.
Charles D. Folch, age 48, former resident of Hastings and former assistant city engineer, passed away July 27, 2011, at his home in Fountain Hills, Ariz., after a valiant 7-year fight against cancer. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service from 5:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Olympic Hills Golf Club located in Eden Prairie, Minn.
Irvin N. Karnick, age 81, of Coates, died Oct. 6, 2011, at his home. The funeral Mass was held Oct. 10 at St. Agatha's Catholic Church, Coates. Interment, with full military honors provided by the Hastings V.F.W. Lyle Russell Post #1210, followed in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery. Aaron M. Schuster, age 20, of Hastings, passed away Oct. 3, 2011, in a motor vehicle accident. He was attending the University of St. Thomas majoring in electrical engineering and working as an intern with Xcel Energy. Aaron loved the outdoors, especially biking, running, and hunting. He loved his family and friends and doing things for others. One of his passions for the last 10 years has been raising money for MS by riding his bike across the state.
Donald H. Hanson, age 65, of Hastings, passed away at home on Oct. 3, 2011. A memorial gathering will be held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. The Wise Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Elaine Paulson, age 93, of Hastings, died at the Regina Medical Center on Sept. 30, 2011. Helen was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Grant County, Minn., to Carl and Adelia (Kuehl) Nibbe. She graduated from Morris Senior High. She married Harold Paulson on May 31, 1941, in Grant County.
