The Front Porch Players of Rosemount is in rehearsal for the opening of "The Importance of Being Earnest," by Oscar Wilde, directed by Keith Reed. The original four-act version will be presented. Several characters not seen in the commonly used three-act version will be included. This production involves a large cast and complex staging. The show runs at 7 p.m. Fridays, at 2 p.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m., Oct. 5-13, at the Rosemount Steeple Center Theater, 14375 S. Robert Trail.

Brent Newville, an instructor in the Heavy Duty Truck Technology program at Dakota County Technical College, was recognized as the 2018 Minnesota Teachers of Transportation and Industrial Areas Instructor of the Year. Newville received the award during the MTTIA 2018 Summer Conference, a technical sessions and trade show held in early August at Central Lakes Community College in Brainerd, Minn.
FARMINGTON — The Dakota County Fairgrounds is hosting the 2018 Support Our Troops Haunted House from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Oct. 5-6 and 12-13. In its 16th year, the haunt continues to expand, getting rave reviews and many repeat visitors. This year's theme is "Obsession," which is based on a real-life couple who were obsessed with haunted houses and the macabre.
