St. John’s Soccer Camp 2015 will be Monday, June 15, to Friday, June 19 at Featherstone Park along Pleasant Drive. One session from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. is for children 4 to 6, the other session from 9 a.m. to noon is for children 7 to 13.
The session for the younger children will focus on the Bible lesson for the day and fun activities to live that lesson. There will be more of an emphasis on fun and games for this age. Each day will “grow” from the previous day.
For the older children, there definitely will be more activities geared to soccer fundamentals, again keeping the Bible lesson for the day in mind.
“The main focus again is sharing Jesus Christ and the Bible and then soccer skill building,” said the Rev. Jason Thiel. “We want the kids to know that Jesus loves them; and if they don’t know soccer, they will learn some skills, meet and gain some new friends.”
At the conclusion of the week, following the June 19 sessions, a family picnic will be held on the grounds at the church, 202 Eighth St. W. All camp participants and families are invited. There will be food, some certificates/awards presented, and sharing of God’s word.
The cost of the camp is $40 for the first child and $30 for each sibling. Register online or print the form and send it to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 202 Eighth St. W., Hastings MN 55033.
All participants will receive a jersey and a water bottle. Shin guards and athletic shoes are required.
