Raiders girls go 1-2 at the Holiday Hoops Classic


The Hastings Raiders girls' basketball team competed in the tough Holiday Hoops Classic held at St. Olaf College this past week. The Raiders faced a trio of South Suburban Conference teams in Eastview, Eagan and Prior Lake. They went 1-2 in the three matchups, beating Eagan for the second time this season while falling to Prior Lake and no. 2 in class 4A Eastview.

Hastings lost to Prior Lake 74-63 but no stats were available at the time of writing.

The team then beat Eagan 66-43, blowing out the Wildcats for the second time this season. Mallory Brake led Hastings in scoring with 22 points (with 16 rebounds) and right behind her was Krystal Carlson with 21 points and eight rebounds.

The Raiders struggled against Eastview, shooting just 9-for-40 from the field and 2-for-10 from three-point range. They trailed quickly by 14 at half 31-17 and did not get any better in the second half. Hastings fell 55-28 and only one of the Raiders scored in double figures. Krystal Carlson had 12 points and Brake eight, but combined they shot just 6-of-26.

Hastings next plays on Friday, Jan. 5, when the team hosts Simley.
