Hastings falls to Cretin-Derham Hall

The good news for the Hastings Raiders volleyball team this week is that they blew away last year’s total raised for breast cancer during their Dig Pink event.

The Raiders raised more than $6,000 at the event. The final total is still being calculated, but that’s about $4,000 more than last year’s total.

More sponsors, more people involved and more T-shirt sales prompted the increase, coach Rita Girgen said.

On the court, the news hasn’t been as good for Hastings. The Raiders lost to Cretin-Derham Hall on Thursday, 3-0.

“We didn’t show up,” Girgen said. “I don’t think we were prepared. There was just a lack of focus and a lack of discipline.”
