Area amateur baseball: Hastings 1, Miesville 0

Chris Olean gave up a triple to lead off the bottom of the ninth and then a bloop single over a drawn in infield as the Hawks won in walk-off fashion Saturday.

That was all the Hawks needed with Mark Moriarty pitching. Mudhens player/manager Matt Van Der Bosch said he thought his team got only one hit off Moriarty and one off reliever Deryk Marks.

"They pitched very well, played good defense and we didn't hit the ball," Van Der Bosch said.

Erik Olson started for Miesville and scattered seven hits over six innings. Van Der Bosch said he worked out of a couple bases-loaded jams.

"He pitched well enough to win," Van Der Bosch said. "We just didn't show up for him."

Miesville dropped to 4-4. On Wednesday the Mudhens play host to the Minneapolis Cobras at 8 p.m.
