Hastings girls golf team places fourth at SEC meet

The Hastings girls golf team had its best Suburban East Conference finish of the year on Monday at the Stillwater Country Club. Hastings placed fourth in the meet with a 187, just four shots off the first-place team from Forest Lake.

"It was a really tight finish for the top five teams," coach Becky Hartung said.

After the Rangers, Stillwater came in second with a 184. East Ridge had a 186. Just behind Hastings was Woodbury with a 188.

Hastings was led by sisters Sadie Karbo and Izzy Karbo, who each had 46s. Clare Baldwin shot a 47. Haley Jo Kimmen and Maddie Bauer each had 48s and Caitlyn Judge had a 54.


Last week was a busy one for the Raiders.

On Tuesday, May 7, Hastings played at North Oaks Golf Club. Hastings placed sixth.

Izzy Karbo had a 46, Sadie Karbo a 48, Kimmen a 54, Bauer a 54 and Baldwin a 59. Lauren Mattmiller also played varsity for Hastings.

"That was a longer course than the girls were used to playing," Hartung said.

On Wednesday, Hastings played in an 18-hole tournament at Highland National, where the Raiders placed fifth.

Izzy Karbo led the way with an 84. Baldwin had a 93, Sadie Karbo had a 94, Bauer had a 97 and Kimmen had a 98.

On Thursday, May 9, Hastings played at Prestwick in Woodbury, where the team placed fifth.

The Karbo sisters each had 47s. Kimmen had a 52 and Judge had a 54. Also playing varsity were Bauer (56) and Baldwin (57).

Hastings played at the Irish Invitational at Emerald Greens to close out the week. Hastings had a team score of 384 to place sixth out of 10 teams.
