Season gets under way for Alpine ski teams

The Suburban East Conference season is officially under way for the Hastings Alpine ski teams. The season began Jan. 3 at Welch Village. The Hastings girls placed fourth at the meet.

The team was led by Gabrillea Sorg, who took eighth overall with a time of 1:07.79.

Week No. 2

The girls placed fifth in the meet with 594 points. Stillwater won the meet with 843 and Mounds View was second with 764.

The top Hastings finisher was Gabriella Sorg. She took eighth with a combined time of 1 minute, 8.5 seconds. The winner, Juliana Damberg from Mounds View, had a time of 1:03.2.

Rose Pechous was 12th in 1:08.9.

Ellie Peine took 30th in 1:13.9.

Sara Juelfs placed 36th in 1:16.

Ursula Rumann placed 44th in 1:18.2.

Katie Roach finished 48th in 1:20.8.

Shannon O'Connor took 51st in 1:21.6.

Danika Truax placed 54th in 1:23.4.

Finishing 55th was Kristie Clothier. She had a time of 1:26.5.

Sarah Kieffer also raced for the Raiders.

The boys, seeing their first action, placed fifth as well. They had 543 points. Stillwater won the boys meet with 767 points. Forest Lake was second with 646.

Hastings was led by Adam Peine, who took seventh with a time of 1:03.8. The boys meet was won by Jake Allison of Stillwater, who had a time of 1:00.6.

Stephen O'Connor was close behind Peine. He took ninth with a time of 1:04.0.

Joe Wright was 29th in 1:10.7.

Nate Strauss finished 34th in 1:12.5.

Sam McKinney was 39th in 1:13.2.

John Schmitz took 46th in 1:17.3.

Jake Gartzke took 63rd in 1:28.7 and Chris Erickson took 64th in 1:29.7.

Thomas Goonan also competed for the Raiders.
