Hastings falls to Dundas in postseason's first game, 3-1

The Hastings Hawks lost their first game of the postseason, falling to the Dundas Dukes here on Sunday, 3-1.

Mark Moriarty took the loss on the mound for the Hawks. He had a quality start, throwing six innings and allowing three earned runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out five, but the Hastings bats were able to garner just six hits on the night.

Jordy Horsch led the offensive effort with three hits from the leadoff spot in the order. He also scored a run and stole a base.

Aaron Stoneberg had one hit, as did David Goggin and Jake Swartout. The lone run was knocked in by player/manager Deryk Marks.

Marks pitched the final three innings for Hastings and didn't allow a run. He struck out two and gave up two hits.

Hastings played host to Red Wing on Wednesday night in the second round. Results were not available at press time.
