Tennis team season ends for HHS boys with loss to Rochester Mayo

The team tennis season concluded on Tuesday afternoon for the Hastings boys team.

The Raiders lost in the semifinal round of the section tournament to the Rochester Mayo Spartans, 7-0.

Ben Carlson, playing at first singles, lost 6-3, 6-2.

Jalen Sneddeker played at second singles and fell, 6-0, 6-0.

At the third spot, Ben Klimek lost 6-1, 6-0.

Zach Mellick lost at fourth singles, 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles action, the team of Ty Mellick and Cody Arndtson had the day's closest match, falling 6-3, 7-6 (6) and 10-4.

Craig Nielsen and Austin Houska lost 6-2 6-1, at second doubles.

The third doubles team of Alex Zuzek and Steve Roach lost 6-1, 6-4.

Hastings advanced to the semifinal round by defeating Owatonna last week, 4-3.

Carlson cruised at first singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Zach Mellick got a big win at fourth singles, winning 6-7 (8), 6-1, 6-2.

At second singles, Sneddeker fell 6-2, 6-3 and at third singles Klimek fell 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The No. 1 doubles team of Ty Mellick and Arndtson won 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The second doubles team of Nielsen and Houska also won, 6-4, 6-4.

The third doubles team of Roach and Zuzek fell 6-4, 6-4.
