Mid-way through season, Hawks are 12-8

The Hastings Hawks traveled to Red Wing last Sunday and came away with a loss, dropping the team to a 1-3 record in the Classic Cannon Valley League's Class B.

So far this season, the Hawks are 12-8 overall, with eight games remaining before the regular season ends July 31. Seven of those games will be played at home.

Regional playoffs begin the Tuesday following the end of the regular season in a double elimination series. The two regional winners will advance to the section tournament.

Ryan Hackel is leading the Hawks batting with a .346 average. Deryk Marks is topping the team's pitching standings with a 4-0 mark.

Hawks players David Vogelgesang and Derrick Pfeffer played on the Classic Cannon Valley All Star game.

This Friday, the Hawks will play Sport and Spine at 7:30 p.m. at Veteran's Park. The team will play in Lake City Saturday and Miesville Sunday, with another home game against Wannamingo Wednesday.
