Golf girls place 10th at Forest Hills invite

May 2 was anything but an ideal day for golf, but the Hastings girls team turned in a strong performance anyway. The team competed at the Forest Hills Invitational in Forest Lake and placed 10th out of 17 teams with a team score of 398.

Sadie Karbo led the way for Hastings with a 93. Caitlyn Judge had a 99, Haley Jo Kimmen had a 99 and Hannah Hoffman shot a 107 to round out the varsity scoring.

Maddie Bauer and Izzy Karbo also played varsity for the Raiders.

"Our team is moving in the right direction," coach Becky Hartung said. "We are trying to get four girls in our nine-hole matches to shoot under 50 and in our 18-hole matches to shoot under 100 to be competitive. We had three girls shoot under 100 at the Forest Hills invite so we are moving forward. The key is now to have four girls consistently come in with scores under 50 in our nine-hole conference matches."

Hastings competed at Highland National on April 28 and placed ninth out of 10 teams.

Judge led the way with a 45. Hoffman had a 52, Sadie Karbo had a 53 and Izzy Karbo had a 54. Bauer and Haley Jo Kimmen also played varsity.
