Two youth wrestlers earn state champion titles

The Hastings Wrestling Club had 18 boys compete this past weekend in the MN/USA Folkstyle State Tournament in Rochester. Hastings came home with two champions and seven other place winners.

State Champions were Matt Boncich in the Schoolboy division and Andy Rachuy in the Cadet division. Third place went to Kyle Erickson and Cody Leflay in the Novice division and Dan Marquette in the Cadet division. Fourth place went to Adam McSorley in the Novice division. Jake Anderson placed fifth in the Cadet division and sixth place went to TJ Pottinger in the Novice division and Bryan Rachuy, also in the Cadet division.

Also competing and just coming up short from placing in this very tough tournament were Tyler Miller and Evan Svoboda in the Bantam divison; Riley Zietlow and Corbin Leflay in the Novice division; and Cole Benson, Spencer Kopp, Reid Zietlow, Austin Eichmann and Mark Vaith in the Schoolboy division.

The Club would like to thank the coaches who put a lot of time and energy into helping these boys, as well as the parents who helped support the boys, worked tables at the tournament and stepped in to coach when needed.
