Raiders gymnasts beat Mustangs

The Hastings gymnastics team scored a big SEC win last week, beating Mounds View, 128.9-123.125.

"A lot of the girls just keep improving," Hastings coach Jeanne Kasel said. "We went up in our team score again, which is something we've done consistently this year."

Jamie Becker led Hastings with a first-place finish in the all-around. Becker scored 33.125 points.

On vault, Sophia Kneen led Hastings with a score of 8.45 and a first-place finish. Courtney Kasel and Becker tied for second with identical scores of 8.075.

On bars, Taylor Engstrom led the way with a first-place finish with a score 7.85.

Kneen was second with a 7.8.

On the balance beam, Becker placed second with a score of 8.425.

Courtney Kasel finished third with a 7.75 and Allie Kromer had a 7.6.

On the floor exercise, Becker won the meet with a 9.125. It was the first score of 9.0 or higher of her varsity career.

Kromer had an 8.85 on floor and Courtney Kasel had an 8.15.

Courtney Kasel placed third in the all-around with a score of 31.5.
