Editorial: Congratulations to the United Way
The United Way of Hastings celebrated its 50th anniversary on Saturday with a big party here.
They certainly went big with the party, lining up a great speaker, a well-known emcee and decorating Mother Seton Hall so thoroughly that it no longer resembled a church banquet room.
The party was certainly quite a show. But by contrast, the work that the local organization does every day often goes unnoticed. We hoped that Saturday’s gala helps change that, giving the organization a more public profile.
Several local non-profits are funded in part by the United Way of Hastings. And 100 percent of the money raised here stays here. That’s something worth throwing a party about.
