Letter: Thanks to Project Share efforts

To the editor,

Project Share was born even before Hastings Family Service was established. The 43rd Annual Project Share radiothon raised more than $7,100 for the holiday assistance program on Dec. 1. Project Share is sponsored by First National Bank, KDWA and Smead Manufacturing. Area musicians shared their talent with holiday musical performances in an effort to raise money to help area families. New this year was the 12 Days of Christmas, performed by community leaders such as Tara Donohue Weiss and Mayor Paul Hicks. One of the highlights of the morning was the girls and boys varsity hockey team sing-off, which raised $1,500. The St. John's Lutheran Church choir closed the event with their annual performance.

Project Share has become an annual holiday tradition for young and old alike. Brian Schommer and his acoustical trio sang at Project Share as children and they are now back as adults, all in an effort to help area families during the holiday season.

On behalf of the 460 families expected to come to HFS for holiday assistance this year, thank you Dan Massman at KDWA, Chad Collignon and the First National Bank staff, Smead Manufacturing and Graphic Design for making this event happen each year. Thank you to all of the musical performers and the hundreds of community members who made a pledge at the 43rdAnnual Project Share radiothon. Hastings Family Service is truly blessed by your generosity.
