Letter: Thanks to those who assisted at Rivertown Court

To the editor,

The Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA) would like to thank everyone in Hastings that assisted our residents at Rivertown Court after storm damage on June 19. Especially the Hastings Fire Department who worked swiftly to safely evacuate all residents from the building and who were diligently on-site conducting safety inspections to get most of the residents home as quickly as possible. A huge thank you to Al Storlie, John Townsend, and Tom Bakken who worked with CDA staff daily during this time.

Thank you to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church for opening their doors to the residents that morning after evacuation and for allowing the CDA to use their gathering space for meetings with residents to update them on the status of building repairs.

Country Inn & Suites also provided prompt service to house residents displaced by the storm. Thank you to the staff there for their generosity and excellent customer service.

Lastly, the CDA would like to thank our residents for their patience and understanding while we work to repair the building to a habitable condition.

It's heartwarming to feel and see the help the Hastings community provided during this natural disaster and the CDA greatly appreciates the assistance and support to be able to continue to provide safe, affordable housing for seniors and families within the community.
