Rudolph Edward Lipinski
Rudolph "Rudy" Lipinski was born on November 15, 1918 in Duluth, Minnesota to Fredrick and Pauline (Kohler) Lipinski. He attended Denfeld High School. At 17 he joined the Minnesota Army National Guard (1936-1939) and later served in the United States Army (1941-1945) with the 28th Field Artillery, 8th Infantry Division seeing action in Normandy, France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. When the war ended, he continued his military service in the Minnesota Army National Guard (1946-1980), retiring as a Master Sergeant with over 40 years of military service. Rudy married Anne Hansen in Superior, Wisconsin in 1946. Together they built their own home and raised their two sons near Proctor, Minnesota. Rudy worked as a bus driver and later retired as the transportation department shop foreman for Independent School District 709 in Duluth. He retired in 1979 after 31 years of service. Rudy passed away on December 18 at the age of 99. He is survived by his sons - Craig (Sharon) of Proctor and Alan of Hastings. Grandchildren Elizabeth (Evan) Magnus of Hastings, Derek (Paula) Lipinski of Hastings, Trevor (Jessica) Lipinski of Duluth, Cole (Haley Johnson) Lipinski of Proctor and Tyler Lipinski of Proctor. Great Grandchildren Riley Lipinski of Hastings, Ellie and Liam Magnus of Hastings and Kaiya Lindvall of Duluth. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Anne, his parents Fredrick and Pauline, brother Albert, sisters Emma, Elsie and Marie, bothers in law Bernard and Robert Hansen and many friends. Funeral service was held on December 26th at the Bayshore Residence and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth. Full Military Honors were provided by the Duluth Honor Guard.
