Nicholas P. Moes, 92
Nicholas P. Moes, age 92 of Hastings, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 15, 2017, following an extended illness.
Nicholas Peter, the son of John and Margaret (Gergen) Moes, was born on July 19, 1924, near New Trier, Minnesota. Following his education, Nicholas enlisted in the United States Army and was later granted an honorable discharge. On August 19, 1947, Nicholas was united in marriage to Mabel Holzmer at the former St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. Nicholas was employed at 3M for 34 years prior to retirement. He loved wood carving, hunting and fishing, and most of all, spending time with his family and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brothers, Bernard and John Moes.
Nicholas is survived by his wife, Mabel of Hastings; his children, John (Joan) Moes, Jim (Ruth) Moes, Linda (Tony) Rubba, Marsha Kittelson, Mary (Tom) Bartholomew, Darlene (Shiraz) Hyder, and Bob (Mary) Moes; his nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; his sister, Sister Duane O.S.B; his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Holzmer; and by many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Martin Siebenaler officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at church on Friday morning.
