Hastings music students participate in honor groups

Several students from District 200 recently participated in band events within the region.

A number of Hastings High School students were selected to the Metro East Conference all-conference honor choir, concert band and jazz band.

Twenty-two students were selected to perform in the all-conference music groups. The MEC Band and Choir Festival was Jan. 8 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi. The jazz band was directed by Adam Meckler, the choir was directed by Theree Hibbard and the band was directed by Catharine Bushman.

HHS students who participated in MEC honor band included Zack Anderson, Eric Bacon, Bailey Fluegel, Miranda Hanson, Emma Matzke, Julia Morrison, Nyle Siddiqui and Ben Wentzler. Honor jazz band participants included Charlie Becker, Dylan Borash, Dani Clifford, Brendan Holm and Tasai Murray. Choir participants included Rachel Weber, Izzy Kranz, Emily Tribe, Maria Everson, Maria Kummer, Jacob Zwart, Michael Gapp, Micah Walt and Noah Goetzke.

Several students from Hastings Middle School attended the Southeast Region Minnesota Band Directors Honor Band on Jan. 13. Students rehearsed under the direction of Ben Blasko and performed a concert at Farmington High School. Participants included Brody Hampl, Devyn Clark, Isabel Ebeling, Jared Hanson, Rhyen Miska and Linnea Hedin.
