Todd Field was the recipient of a drastic makeover last week in honor of the Hastings 2017 homecoming football game against the Tartan Titans.

The same group of parent volunteers who began painting the Hastings Raiders "H" at midfield toward the end of last season, and has continued this season, decided to step their effort up several notches in time for last week's football games.

Pete Zak, one of the parent volunteers who helped organize the painting of the field, said that they received money for materials from the booster club as well as an anonymous donor. With the money, they were able to buy the paint and equipment needed, with help from fellow parent and teacher Todd Levos, who created several frames for the painting.

The volunteers, led by Zak and Levos, painted a blue-and-gold checkerboard pattern in both end zones, spray painted the sidelines blue and gold to help identify the restricted area for coaches and the Raider "H" on the 50-yard line.

They started on Tuesday night, working on the end zones. They continued that work Wednesday afternoon before the Powderpuff football game and kept working after the Powderpuff game. They finished that night and took several overhead photos and video with a drone over the stadium of the finished product.

The painting was finished in time for it to dry before the rain came late Thursday and during the weekend. It stood up well to the soccer matches that took place Thursday evening and was still in decent shape come Friday evening for the game.
