Katmint to donate nutritious meals to Animal Ark
Katmint Feline Wellness (Koop Brand) will donate nutritious dry food meals to Animal Ark in Hastings through their Buy One Feed One initiative. For every order that is placed on their website during the month of May, they will donate one healthy meal to Animal Ark.
"We were really excited because it's part of our local community too," said Tyler Thompson, founder of Koop Brand.
Each month, Katmint will work with a different shelter of the month. The shelters will be nonprofit, non-kill and will house at least 20 cats. Thompson said that when the company was founded, they knew they wanted to get involved in the nonprofit community and the new initiative has worked well so far.
Thompson said that Katmint began the Buy One Feed One initiative in April by offering the same sort of donation concept to the Twin Cities Pet Rescue. They ended up donating about 20 pounds of food or 150 meals. Thompson said that they hope to accomplish just as many meals, if not more, for the month of May.
Shannon Ward, assistant manager at Animal Ark, said that getting high-quality food is always important to a shelter. The better quality food helps build the immune system in the animals.
The community can help the initiative in a couple different ways. One way is simply by sharing the information about the initiative with friends and family, Ward said. Another way is by making a purchase on the Katmint website. One order will donate a meal. Customers are not asked to donate any extra money, Katmint will automatically donate a meal to Animal Ark for every purchase made during the month of May.
