HMS Math Masters win second place at regional event

The Hastings Middle School fifth-grade Math Masters team took second place at a regional Math Masters event April 21 in Lakeville. There were 171 students competing on 35 different teams around the Twin Cities area. The competition included a fact drill round, individual rounds and team rounds.

The HMS Gold team won second-place medals. Gold team members included Emma Bakker, Devin Plank, Jamie Price, Julia Ronning, Aidan Stoltz and alternate Eve Lawson. The HMS Blue team placed 14th. Blue team members included Max Langley, Parker McGinnis, James Millhollin, Creed Peterson, Alex Siebenaler and alternate Mikayla Schuster.

Some HMS students also received ribbons during the individual rounds. Devin Plank received sixth place, Jamie Price took seventh and Parker McGinnis took ninth. The teams were coached by Ellie Lundstrom and Linda Bindman.
