Hawks beat Expos, 6-3
The Hastings Hawks managed to score six runs on six hits and went on to win a matchup on June 24 with the Elmwood Expos. The final score was 6-3.
Ben Bundschu pitched a gem of a game for the Hawks, throwing all nine innings and striking out 12. He allowed six hits and three runs, only one of which was earned.
He walked just one batter.
Hastings got two hits and two RBI each from Hunter Hillstrom and Eric Weber.
Also getting hits for the Hawks were Shawn Matson and Eric Harris.
Tony Hammes scored two runs. Also scoring were Matson, Harris, Mike Schlottman and Weber.
Hastings fell behind in the first inning, 1-0, but came back to take the lead in the bottom of the first with two runs. A solo run in the second inning made it 3-1 Hastings.
The Expos came back to tie it with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
In the bottom of the seventh, though, Hastings took the lead for good with two runs. They added another run in the eighth to pull away.
