Civil war weekend at the LeDuc Historic Estate
“The Price of Victory” is the theme of the 2013 Civil War Weekend at the LeDuc Historic Estate, 1629 Vermillion Street, Hastings, which will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission price is $5-$8 each day and that includes a guided tour of the LeDuc house. It was 150 years ago that quartermaster William LeDuc helped keep the “Cracker Line” open, propelling the Union Army to critically important victories in 1863. Join Dakota County Historical Society, Friends of LeDuc of Historic Hastings, and volunteers in exploring pivotal events of 1863 through talks by historians, re-enactments, music, hands-on demonstrations, and full encampments of Union and Confederate soldiers. Help to honor the supreme sacrifice made by soldiers, as well as the hardships of citizens, that shaped our nation’s history.
The LeDuc Historic Estate (651-437-7055) is owned by the City of Hastings and managed by Dakota County Historical Society.
