New Richmond, Wis., man charged with kidnapping two women in Afton

Volunteers needed for 18th Street replanting

On a rainy morning May 18, a group of volunteers worked with Friends of the Mississippi River along the side of East 18th Street, digging out more than 225 native plants that would have been affected by this summer’s road construction work there. During construction, the plants are being cared for off-site.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, the plants will be replanted along 18th Street. Volunteers are needed to help replant. Anyone interested in helping finish the plant rescue project should contact Lindsay Hefferan at lhefferan@fmr.
