City Council: A restaurant, a parking lot and a hockey facility
Due to Monday being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Hastings City Council's second meeting of the month was moved to Tuesday, Jan. 18, instead of its usual Monday. The council will meet at 7 p.m.
Much of the meeting will be given over to community development projects. Among them is a site plan for the new Me & Julio's restaurant, located at the old Papa Charrito's and Papa's Bar and Grill site. The new owners have submitted a site plan detailing some new construction and some exterior updates to the building.
The council will also review for authorization a ground lease agreement and an assignment and assumption agreement in connection with plans for a new park and ride lot near the old rail depot. The ground lease agreement is between the Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority and the Metropolitan Council. It gives the Met Council authority of ownership for a 40-year lease on the property where the lot is to be constructed. The assignment and assumption agreement transfers the city's authority in the $600,000 grant agreement (funds provided to the city through Met Council for the construction of the lot) to HEDRA, since HEDRA is the property owner.
Also in regards to new construction, the council will address an updated resolution regarding a hockey training facility to be built at the Hastings Civic Arena. The updated resolution give the Hastings Hockey Boosters approval to begin fundraising for the building, to be located off the arena's southeast corner.
