Hastings area election results

The votes have finally come in from Election Day polling. Results from Dakota County were delayed until after the presidential election was called; results for Hastings were posted shortly after 2 a.m. Nov. 9.

Denmark Township

Denmark Township is the first of Hastings area election results to come in. Township residents elected Karen Herman and John Strohfus to town supervisor seats in separate unopposed races. Herman earned 98.81 percent of the vote and Strohfus earned 98.44 percent.

Hampton

In Hampton, voters chose John Knetter for mayor with 63.88 percent of the vote (214). Timothy Skog had 34.93 percent (117).

Hampton voters also elected Kati Evertz-Garcia and Victor Anderson for two open city council seats. Evertz-Garcia earned 49.13 percent (197) and Anderson earned 46.88 percent (188). No other candidates ran.

Vermillion

Vermillion voters elected Brian Mann to the position of mayor. Mann won 52.33 percent of the votes (137) and Route had 47.33 percent (124).

Travis John ran unopposed for an open city council seat and won with 80.38 percent of the votes (209). Fifty-one voters, nearly 20 percent, voted for a write-in candidate.

Vermillion also held a special election for a city council member. Aaron Rother and Joe Munson ran; Rother earned 58.20 percent (142) and Munson had 40.98 percent (100).

Miesville

Sara Marie Niebur ran unopposed for Miesville mayor and won with 64 votes.

Two city council seats were available. Ken Nelson and Jennifer Chapeau ran. Nelson earned 63 votes and Chapeau earned 43.

Soil and Water District 1

Two candidates ran for Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor for District 1. Kevin Chamberlain won the seat with 65.5 percent (14,830). Terry Ferriss had 33.62 percent (7,648).

Election results do not include absentee ballots and are unofficial until canvassing.
