Name:

Carly Hyatt

What is your new position? At which school?

I work at both the high school and the middle school teaching chemistry (HHS) and 8th grade science (HMS).

Hometown:

Uniontown, Ohio

College attended/degree:

I attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and studied Chemistry Education.

Prior work experience:

I student taught in Provo, Utah, at Timpview High School, and then taught for the end of last year in Mounds View, at Edgewood Middle School.

What are you your goals for this year/what are you most looking forward to?

One of my goals this year is to better incorporate science as it happens in the real world into the science we learn in the classroom. This helps the students realize that science happens all around us, and every single day, discoveries are made; sometimes they are made by amazing, renowned scientists, and sometimes by an unsuspecting, budding scientist! I am most looking forward to seeing how the teacher-student and student-student relationship grow and change throughout the year.

Family:

I am married to Benjamin Hyatt, and we have a golden retriever puppy named Maya (1 year), and are expecting our first child (baby girl) in March of 2018!

Hobbies and interests:

I love being outdoors, hiking, biking and swimming! I love playing board games and trying new foods from different ethnic cuisines!
