'Star-filled' evening will impact Hastings education through HPSF

From the entertaining and show-stopping names to the fine cuisine, to the desserts after the show, the Hastings Public School Foundation (HPSF) presents "An Uncommon Gathering ... A Star Filled Evening," at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Hastings High School Commons Area.

Hastings Public Schools Foundation (HPSF) was founded by our community to provide funds for innovative learning opportunities not available through current public school funding. "What If" grants given to educators by the foundation invest in students by allowing their teachers a chance to bring their ideas and dreams into reality. The "What If" grants are given to educators by the foundation to invest in students by allowing their teachers a chance to bring their ideas and dreams to reality.

This evening begins with a social gathering from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m., following the special dinner catered by D'Amico, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The entertainment for the evening begins at 7 p.m. and will be led by emcee Mark Rosen of WCCO TV.

The entertainment has a familiar Hastings ring to it.

The music will be presented by Ben and Karyn Utecht, Patrick Sieben, Mike Jones and Tara Kranz. Utecht is a former NFL player who has resumed his singing career.

The first grants were delivered to successful teachers in the fall of 2004. This past year about $60,000 was presented in grants.

The foundation also believes that each donor, whether they give time or money, is making a valuable commitment to the future of the community through the creation of programs that not only educate, but also motivate, the children to make a difference.

The community has made a commitment in the form of a $1 million endowment fund to the future of innovative education for all of the children. That money will continue to fund education regardless of the economic climate.
