A felony fleeing charge against a Red Wing man could be dropped in Pierce County if he's convicted of murder charges he faces in Goodhue County.

Pierce County Assistant District Attorney Bill Thorie said that's the agreement with the attorney for Charles D. Jones, the 26-year-old charged in Goodhue County with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of third-degree murder in the April 18 shooting death of Dangelo Masterjohn.

"If there is a significant conviction there, I don't intend to bring him back," Thorie said at a Friday, June 2, extradition hearing.

Jones waived extradition to Goodhue County, where a jail official said he arrived later that day.

Jones said at the hearing that a learning disability he has didn't prevent him from understanding proceedings.

Online court records state District Court Judge Kevin Mark ordered Jones to be held on $1 million bail during a Monday, June 5, hearing.

Jones, who also faces a manslaughter charge, is accused of shooting Masterjohn, who was found dead on a sidewalk in the 400 block of Sanderson Street. He was charged with felony fleeing in Pierce County after allegedly leading deputies on a 120 mph pursuit that ended in rural Ellsworth.

Jones' next hearing is July 7 in Goodhue County.
