Intoxicated man stumbles in to wrong house, prompting burglary call to Hastings police

A Hastings homeowner in the 400 block of West 12th Street had a surprise visitor at 2:36 a.m. Oct. 15. The homeowner awoke and called police when he heard what he thought was a burglar breaking into his house.

It turns out the burglar was just an intoxicated man who had entered the wrong house.

The would-be burglar entered the home and sat down at the dining room table, where he was enjoying a cup of coffee.

The homeowner confronted the confused man and eventually kicked him out. The man left his shoes behind and exited the home. The shoeless man has not yet been located.
