Police blotter preview: Aug. 15 to Aug. 21

• A caller reported a carpet cleaning van was dumping liquid in a sewer drain along the 2200 block of Forest Street at 3:57 p.m. Aug. 16.

The caller got the number of the company on the van and reported the number to police. The Hastings officer assigned to the case called the company, Little Red Carpet Cleaning, and eventually spoke to a manager. The manager said the employee in question didn't follow company practice when it comes to disposal.

Approximately 40 to 50 gallons of Savogran, a diluted cleaning solution, was dumped down the sewer drain.

• Hastings police responded to a detox center in Hastings on the report of a Hastings man trying to admit himself.

Since Hastings police contract with the Ramsey County detox, the man was picked up and taken to Ramsey County.

The call came in at 7:21 p.m. on Aug. 17.

• Four Hastings juveniles were cited for curfew violations and trespassing after being found on top of the roof at Kennedy Elementary School at 1:53 a.m. on Aug. 20.

The four had apparently climbed up the construction scaffolding at the school. They did enter the school through a roof access, then left shortly thereafter.

The four were all supposed to be staying at the residence of one of the children. They had apparently snuck out of the home.

All of them were picked up by their parents.
