Hastings has had a bakery in town for over 100 years and according to the co-owner Norine Bishop, Emily's Bakery and Deli isn't just any ordinary bakery.

"We're one of the rare kind of bakeries that are left that do so many things," Bishop said.

Emily's makes cakes, cupcakes, pies, deli sandwiches, breads, buns, rolls and much more.

Now, Emily's is in the running for the Sweetest Bakery in America. The Sweetest Bakery competition, sponsored by Dawn Foods, began in February and will continue through July 31.

"We encourage people to vote every day," Bishop said.

The competition allows voters to cast their vote once per day online. In addition, ballots are available inside the store for those who would like to cast their vote in person.

The Sweetest Bakery in America is a nationwide competition. The winning bakery will be announced on National Bakery Day through a press release and the sponsor will pay for a "Sweetest Bakery in America Celebration Party" that will take place at the winning bakery.

To vote for the sweetest bakery, visit www.sweetestbakeryinamerica.com. Visitors may select the state their favorite bakery is located in and then select their favorite bakery. To vote for Emily's, select Minnesota as the state and then Emily's Bakery and Deli.
