A new MetroPCS store opened its doors last month in Hastings at 300 Vermillion St. The wireless store is known for offering great value in devices and plans. The company partners with T-Mobile for 4G LTE and coverage.

The MetroPCS store originally opened in November, but it reopened under new ownership in April. Mike Kohler, the new owner of the MetroPCS in Hastings, has been working in wireless for about 20 years. He said that he began working in wireless when he sold bag phones. He has worked in the industry ever since and has seen phones change throughout the years.

"I've seen the whole evolution, the changes in wireless and what has really drawn me to MetroPCS is that everything is cut and dry," Kohler said. "Everything you see, the rates are the rates."

Kohler said that some of the other benefits he sees in MetroPCS is the reasonable rates for very good devices and there are no penalties or contracts. Customers also have the opportunity to upgrade their device every 90 days, he said.

Kohler said that he has had the opportunity to create wireless stores from scratch in the past and his efforts have always turned into destination stores. One of the ways he creates a destination store is through the customer service. He creates an environment where the employees go above and beyond for the customers.

"Our biggest thing is just truly offering the community the best customer service we possibly can," he said.

In addition, Kohler said that his stores typically have a low pressure sales environment. He wants to encourage customers to check out other offers, research it and feel good about their purchase because he knows that MetroPCS is competitive on all fronts, he said.

Kohler said that he is excited about the location of the store too. Not only is the store downtown and next to the river, but as people drive over the bridge they can't miss the MetroPCS sign, he said.

"Having the opportunity to buy the store in Hastings was a no brainer," said Mike Kohler, owner of MetroPCS in Hastings.

MetroPCS is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
