Spiral Natural Foods opens in new location Friday
The work is completed and the shelves are stocked. Spiral Natural Foods opens for business at new location, 1250 South Frontage Road, at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2.
Spiral Natural Foods, which has been part of the Hastings business scene for 30 years, moved from East Second Street this week. The portion of the building it has leased at307 E Second St., will become part of Hastings Family Service, which has purchased the building.
Members' loans helped in the move to the new location. More than $200,000 was secured. A bank loan of $100,000 was then secured from Northcountry Cooperative Development Fund for the relocation project.
Even before Hastings Family Service moved into the building, Spiral Natural Foods was working hard to ensure its continuation as an important part of the community. It as looking for another location in the city and decided on the 1250 South Frontage Road.
"We look forward to a new store and to relocating to allow Hastings Family Service full use of the building it has purchased," said Board chair Noah Kurth.
The new store includes a "grab and go" deli, and fresh and locally-grown meat. The store also plans to increase its offering of local, organic produce, cheeses, dairy, meats and other products.

Store hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The telephone number remains the same: 651-437-2667.
