Helicopter crashes in Marshan Township
The Hastings Fire Department responded to a helicopter crash Wednesday afternoon just south of 205th Street between Highway 61 and Kirby Avenue in Marshan Township.
According to responders, the pilot had been crop dusting and was not seriously injured.
Hastings firefighters were assisted by the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota Duty Officer, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. Federal authorities investigated the crash.
While Hastings responders were on the scene, the fire department also responded to a reported explosion at the electrical substation in downtown Hastings, located just east of the Highway 61 bridge. They found a large fuse had tripped, which caused the noise and a temporary power outage. No one was injured.
