A crash on Highway 55 near Goodwin Avenue slowed traffic Monday morning, causing vehicles leaving Hastings at about 8 a.m. to back up at least one mile.

One of the drivers involved, Hastings resident Eli Hauschild, said he was driving westbound on Highway 55. Traffic was busy and moving steadily, but came to a stop at the intersection with Goodwin Avenue. He managed to stop, but the driver behind him struck him from behind, pushing his vehicle across the eastbound lane. To avoid him, another vehicle drove into the ditch.

The driver said he had a neck sprain due to whiplash but had no other serious injuries. The drivers of both the other vehicles talked to him and were walking, he said, and appeared to be uninjured.
