The driver has been identified as Gregory D. Christensen, 42, of New Brighton.

The crash occurred while it was still dark, according to a State Patrol trooper on the scene. The incident was reported at 6:59 a.m.

According to the State Patrol's report, the vehicle, a 2010 Ford Fusion, was southbound on Highway 61 when it crossed the northbound lane and went off the road.
