Week opens with three crashes for fire department
The Hastings Fire Department had a hectic morning Monday, Feb. 4. Crews responded to three crashes on Highway 52, all within the same time period.
The first crash, which occurred shortly after 7 a.m., involved a single vehicle that left the road on northbound Highway 52 just north of 200th Street. The vehicle went into the ditch and struck a tree. Responders extricated the driver and transported him to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
About 15 minutes after clearing the scene, another driver lost control in the same location, struck a guard rail and rolled over in the lane of traffic. Two adults were transported to the hospital. One was reported to be in serious condition.
The third crash involved two vehicles about half a mile south of 200th Street, where one vehicle rear-ended another. No injuries were reported.
While responders managed the three crashes, Hastings Fire Department crews responded to two other medical emergencies and a fire alarm in the city.
