Car crashes on 150th Street

The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash late Tuesday morning is in critical condition at Gillette Children's Hospital according to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.

The crash was reported at about 11:30 a.m. Oct. 9. The vehicle had gone off of 150th Street in a wooded area just west of Jacob Avenue. Firefighter/paramedics had to cut and lift off the roof of the car to get to the occupant, whose name is not being released due to his age.

The driver was airlifted to Gillette's following a difficult extrication.

"We were very happy he was still alive," said Chief Deputy Tim Leslie.

The Hastings Fire Department, Dakota County Sheriff's Office and Hastings Police Department responded. The Dakota County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash with the Minnesota State Patrol. Factors leading to the crash are still under investigation.
