A car crash at the intersection of Highway 55 and General Sieben Drive slowed traffic for about half an hour Friday morning.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Dana Chytracek of Hastings was making a left turn from southbound General Sieben Drive onto eastbound Highway 55. Rachel Hamilton of Hastings was driving westbound on Highway 55 and ran a red light, crashing into Chytracek.

According to the accident report, Hamilton said that she was distracted by her passenger, Eric Morland, who was yelling at her. She didn't see the red light until she was already into the intersection.

Hamilton was transported to the hospital. Hastings police on the scene originally believed both she and her passenger had been transported; however, the Minnesota State Patrol report states that Morland was not taken to the hospital. Police believed Hamilton's injuries were not life-threatening.

The Hamilton vehicle sustained enough damage that it had to be towed away from the scene on a flatbed truck. The Chytracek vehicle took damage to the front driver's-side corner, but was still drivable.
