Refuge available at Tilden during excessive heat advisory this week
The city of Hastings has released an excessive heat advisory. Dangerous high temperatures are expected for Wednesday, July 20, through Friday, July 22.
The city has designated the Tilden Community Center as a heat refuge.
The community center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers an air-conditioned center and bistro.
Along with the refuge notice, the city noted that residents should be aware of any of the following symptoms of heat related illnesses: heat stroke (low blood pressure, profuse sweating, blue lips and nails, etc.), heat cramps (muscle spasms triggered when a person is working out in a hot environment), heat exhaustion (excessive thirst, weakness and headache) and/or heat rash (small, red bumps).
