Storm to dump up to 11 inches of snow in Hastings

A large snowstorm moving through Minnesota and the Midwest could drop up to seven inches of snow in Hastings during the day Tuesday, with more snow expected overnight into Wednesday.

The forecast prompted the closing of Hastings schools on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for 3 to 7 inches of snow Tuesday, mainly after 10 a.m. Winds will pick up throughout the day, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Blustery winds continue into the evening, and another 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected overnight.

The weather service forecast calls for patchy blowing snow before 8 a.m. Wednesday, later giving way to sunny skies and temperatures dropping to around 17 degrees.
