Police: Body found in Mississippi River in St. Paul Park

Crews from the St. Paul Park Fire Department are pictured along the Mississippi River on Wednesday after a body was found in the river nearby.

A body was found Wednesday morning in the Mississippi River in St. Paul Park, authorities said.

The body was located in a side channel south of Hidden Harbor by a Department of Natural Resources official working on the river, St. Paul Park police Chief Mike Monahan said.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office was called on scene to investigate. Authorities used a sheriff's boat to access the body on the river shortly after 10 a.m.

Monahan said there are no reports of missing people in St. Paul Park. It would be possible for a body to float downstream from somewhere farther up river, he said.
