Overnight delays expected over bridge May 8 and 9
Utility work on the Hastings bridge next Wednesday and Thursday, May 8 and 9, may cause traffic delays. The work will restrict traffic to a single lane in both directions of Hwy 61 between Fourth Street and Highway 10 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation asks those traveling through the area to be considerate of other drivers as well as the flaggers who will be directing traffic.
The curing process for the bridge deck has been completed, and crews are beginning to apply a special surfacing coat.
Two lanes of traffic - one in each direction - are expected to be routed onto the new bridge in early to mid-June.
The City of Hastings remains open during construction; all downtown businesses and other local destinations are accessible via the current Hastings Bridge.
